Coming right on the heels of the Thanksgiving holiday, the annual Christmas on Main event coordinated through the Escalon Chamber of Commerce is fast approaching.
Date for the event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2 and a full afternoon and evening of fun are planned.
“This event encompasses the annual tradition of roasting marshmallows for s’mores over toasty fire pits, the Parade of Lights and the long-awaited arrival of Santa Claus to Escalon,” Chamber officials said.
Christmas on Main is a holiday community event, with the vendor and food booths open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Musical entertainment will include the El Portal Band, the Escalon High School Choir, a flute duet, Powerhouse Dance studio performances and more.
The Parade of Lights – in which entries must be outfitted with some type of holiday lighting – is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. and wraps up with the arrival of Santa at 6 p.m.
There will also be decorating of the ‘giving trees’ downtown near the caboose in Main Street Park and there will be activities for kids, the opportunity to shop at the vendor booths and enjoy food and beverages.
Organizers said there are vendor booth spaces still available and parade entries are also being accepted, along with sponsorships. For more information, contact Robert Swift at 209-595-5013; Deverie Voral at 209-988-8030; ort Debbie Murken at 209-402-0505.
