At a recent regularly scheduled meeting, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved Supervisor Robert Rickman’s proposal to provide dedicated District 5 Funds to a local transportation program serving seniors and veterans in San Joaquin County.
Knights of Care is a nonprofit organization providing scheduled local transportation for seniors and veterans in San Joaquin County. Their notably branded – wrapped – vehicle is currently in active service and has already completed more than 50 rides for community members. Funds will be used for program materials that will increase outreach and improve service for current and future clients.
“Transportation can become challenging for our seniors and our aging veterans. It gives me pleasure to support a service dedicated to assisting our aging population tend to daily activities and safely maintain their independence,” Fifth District Supervisor Rickman said. “Reliable and trustworthy transportation can help prevent delayed medical care and social isolation, improving the quality of life for our seniors and aging veterans.”
