On Friday, Nov. 11 Hula’s in Escalon did over $550 in free meals for military service personnel. “It was a good turnout, people came from all over,” said Hula’s owner Tony Victorino. “Over 4000 people saw it on Facebook.” This was the second year the restaurant offered free meals for veterans, with many from the Escalon and Oakdale areas turning out. Last year they provided did about $300 in meals, with this year’s turnout better. Victorino said the local eatery was “pretty packed” after the downtown parade in Escalon on Veterans’ Day and the free meal was their way of saying “thank you” to veterans for their sacrifice and service.
