Heading to Riverbank on Tuesday, March 20 for the Trans-Valley League Relays, Escalon track and field head coach Carrie Nash said it was wet and wild.

“We tried to get all our 90-plus athletes in events, being a meet where there are only relays, it was a bit of a challenge,” Nash explained. “Medals were only given to the top finishing teams in each relay. The only medal we came home with was in the girls throwers relay. All in all it was a good opportunity to get out and compete on a good facility.”

On Friday, a handful of Cougars made the trip to nearby Oakdale, which was the host site for the ‘County Clash’ that brought together top athletes from neighboring counties as opposed to leagues.

“We had four kids compete,” said Nash.

Senior Jackie Lau ran a personal best in the 100m with a 13.16, senior Jessikka Gonzalez was third in the high jump at 4-10.00.Jjunior Zach Pickett was seventh in the high jump with a leap of 5-8.00, and senior Christian Brunetti finished seventh in triple jump at 40-01.25 and 13th in the long jump at 18-01.00.

“They went up against the area’s best and did well,” Nash noted. “It was a good opportunity to see what marks and times other athletes in our area are posting.”
