Theo Evelyn Spears passed away peacefully on October 28, 2016 at her home in Escalon at the age of 91. Theo was born on February 12, 1925 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma to Roy and Gladys Rogers. She has been a resident of Escalon for the past 61 years. Theo or commonly known as, “Gam”, was a loving and adored wife, mom, sister, sister in law and aunt. She was especially a proud and an unconditionally loving grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She cherished her friendships. She was committed and admired for her work and detail in her long career in accounting. She was clear and very committed to her Christian beliefs and faith. Her ability to cook, be full of grace and soft gentle simple loving ways are the gifts she leaves behind. She loved working in her yard, reading and traveling the roads of this beautiful country. Her absence is missed but her impact was full. She is at peaceful rest in her cherished place with the lord. Theo leaves behind her son, Royce Lynn Spears of Irwin, Idaho, her grandchildren: Kevin Stephen Abernathy of Delhi, Stefani Suzan Abernathy of Modesto, Daron Odell Spears of Brentwood, Corey Lynn Spears of Arizona and Morgan Carrie-Lyn Buchanan of Waterford. Theo also leaves behind four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Theo is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hubert Spears, her daughter Gwendolyn Abernathy and her sister Betty Eaton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon. Donations in Theo’s name may be made to the Hubert Spears Memorial Scholarship Fund: 222 South Thor Turlock, CA 95380 Suite 20.
