Susie Cimpanelli passed away peacefully on July 23, 2016 in Oakdale at the age of 91. Susie was born on August 11, 1924 in Kohala, Hawaii to Joe and Ida Cambra. She moved with her family to Escalon when she was five years old and has been a resident of the area ever since. Susie graduated from Escalon High School then went to work at the Escalon Home Bakery. After marrying Louie Cimpanelli, when he returned from the war, they opened Lou and Sue’s Market that they owned and operated for several years. After, Susie worked as a clerk for Town and Country Market in Oakdale until her retirement.
Susie loved all forms of racing, from sprint to stock cars. She also loved watching football games on Sundays, especially the 49ers. One of Susie’s favorite things to do was to go out to dinner with family and friends. She was a loving, caring, generous woman who loved her family above anything else, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Susie leaves behind her children, Renee Cimpanelli and Jim Cimpanelli, her grandchildren, Michele Horsley (Marshall), Shawntel Stone (Phil), Brittney Schwartz (Joe), Shelly Hammerquist, Jason Lee, and Crystal Ann Sedivy, along with 23 great grandchildren. Susie also leaves behind her sister, Maryann Woods and her sister-in-law, Madeline Cambra. Susie is preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Louie Cimpanelli.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, August 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at Deegan Chapel in Escalon. A chapel service will follow on Tuesday, August 2 at 10 a.m., also at Deegan Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon.
