RONA JEAN CHAMBERLAIN
CHAMBERLAIN k

Rona Jean Chamberlain passed away at Memorial Hospital in Modesto, California after a brief illness on March 14, 2018.
Jean was born and raised in Collins, Georgia. As an Air Force wife, she traveled much of the United States, visited Europe and lived in Iceland and avidly soaked up the local history and atmosphere wherever she went. When her second husband retired from the Air Force, they returned to Collins where she lived for 20 more years, until moving to California to be with her daughters after the death of her husband in 2016.
Jean worked in nursing most of her life, in hospitals and other facilities in Colorado, Nevada, Missouri, New Jersey and Georgia. In free time she enjoyed her cats, reading, traveling, working in her yard and being with family. Most recently she liked watching historical documentaries and sorting through decades of photos of family and her travels and sharing her stories.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, William Ronald Lane and Beulah Oliver Lane and her husband of 40 years, Thomas Chamberlain, all of Collins. She is survived by her brother, W.O. “Shine” Lane of Collins, her daughter, Jennifer (Guy) Woodmansee of Escalon, CA, her daughter, Lea Anne Cates of Galt, CA and four grandchildren – Derek Woodmansee of Escalon, Amber Tedrow of Sacramento, Megan Tedrow of Sacramento and Alyssa Tedrow of Bakersfield.
Services were held at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon on March 19, 2018 at 2 p.m. with visitation and reflection starting at 1 p.m. Her final resting place will be at the Cedar Creek Church Cemetery in Collins, Georgia where a memorial service will take place at a later date.
Floral gifts are welcomed, as Jean loved her plants and flowers, but memorial donations to your local library or your favorite veteran’s organization are encouraged.
