MARGARETE PALMER K

Margarete (Margaret) Palmer, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 10, 2017. Margaret was born on April 27, 1933, in Meedl, Czechoslovakia. After surviving the harrowing, life-altering events of World War II, she resided in Germany. It was in Germany she met Duane Palmer, a young American solider from Escalon, California, who would eventually become her husband. Margaret was a loyal military wife for over 20 years. She would reside throughout the world during Duane’s military service, which included: Germany, Kansas, Kentucky, Alaska, and New Jersey (to name a few). After retiring from the Army, Margaret, Duane, and their daughter, Nadine, moved to Escalon. Margaret made Escalon her home for the past 43 years.
Margaret loved reading, crafts, music, and fellowship. However, her true happiness in life came from spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, adoring grandmother, and extraordinary oma who will be deeply missed and always treasured. She is preceded in death by her sisters Mitzi Weigel and Berti Zeidler. She is survived by her daughter, Nadine Kleven (David) of Riverbank, two grandchildren, Melissa Stone (Randy) of Riverbank, Jeremy Kleven (Lauren) of Cumberland, RI, and her three great-grandchildren: Jackson Stone, Tatum Stone, and Brayden Kleven.
Margaret will have a private, graveside burial at Burwood Cemetery surrounded by her immediate family. In loving memory, contributions may be sent to the Escalon United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2000 Jackson Ave., Escalon, CA 95320.
