This week I have not had any time to get out and to see what has or is happening in Farmington. So, I thought I would share with you my personal experience for the week.

Twenty-four years ago, I had a most amazing experience. Holding my first grandchild. Her name is Amanda. This past week was another first for me. I was honored by going to her bachelorette party that her Maid of Honor, Katie Schmitt organized. The event was held at the 'Saddle Rack' in Fremont. For those of you who do not know what a 'Saddle Rack' is, the place resembles a Country and Western dance hall. The young women even tried their skills by riding the mechanical bull. Did you notice I said 'young women'? Not me. Actually they all did very well. Of course the bride-to-be made the operator promise to take it slow and easy for her, as she did not want a black eye or any broken bones before the wedding. What a 'boot scoot-in boogie' time we had.

Amanda had a very special friend and guest come to her wedding. Her friend from Germany, Luisa Volke, whom she met when they were both Au Pair's (definition: nanny) in Australia two years ago. They lived and worked together for a year in the same household. The bride, Amanda Dobbins and the groom Luke Vieira, who both live in Oakdale, were married on Saturday. That was another amazing day, and I must say one of the most beautiful occasions in my life. Her parents and I got little teary eyed as she walked down the aisle with her dad, Wes. Neither the bride nor the groom was nervous. They were very happy and excited that the day had finally arrived, as they were ready to start a new chapter in their lives together.
