Several Cougar Athletes Move On To Track, Field Sections

It was a busy Thursday afternoon in nearby Riverbank, as Trans-Valley League varsity track and field athletes gathered there on May 5 for the TVL Championships.

The field events began at 3 p.m. and the running events at 6 p.m.

Following is a recap of the top performances for the Cougar athletes.

 

Boys

Shot Put: Preston Ball 1st 41'10", Victor Romero 4th 38'0"

Discus: Preston Ball 2nd 120'9", Stephen Percy 108'2"

High Jump: Owen Nash 4th 5'8"

 

Girls

100m: Cali Granis 1st 12.96 (PR); Alyssa Ball 2nd 13.23

200m: Cali Granis 1st 26.97 (PR)

3200m: Kathy Romero 4th 13:44.86

Shot Put: Julia Warsing 5th 30'5" (PR), Shelby-Lynn Kessler 6th 30'1"

Discus: Julia Warsing 5th 91'4.5"

4x100m: 3rd Sammy Lang, Lillian Brasil, Alyssa Ball, Cali Granis, alternate Analise Silveira

 

“The top three finishers advance to sections being held Wednesday and Friday at Weston Ranch High School,” head coach Carrie Nash explained. “We have qualified the 4x100m girls relay team of Sammy Lang, Lillian Brasil, Alyssa Ball, Cali Granis and Analise Silveira, Granis also qualified in the 100m and 200m. Alyssa Ball qualified in the 100m. Preston Ball qualified in the shot and discus.”

Owen Nash in the high jump and Victor Romero in the shot put will advance as well, their fourth place showings putting them as alternates in those events.
