The popular Chili Cook Off hosted by the Escalon American Legion Post 263 drew a record number 16 entries for the Saturday, Oct. 17 gathering. Taking top honors was Diane Coleman, center, with Rosita Richway, on left, earning second place and Valerie Watts, at right, finishing third. There was a panel of three judges who taste tested and rated the entries, with several dozen dinner attendees also getting a chance to sample several chili varieties and side dishes.
