San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) invites county residents to “Ride With Us to the Polls” this Election Day. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, RTD will provide free rides for passengers traveling to vote as part of Buses for Democracy.
“Access to transportation should never be a barrier to participating in our democracy,” said Eric Williams, CEO of San Joaquin Regional Transit District. “RTD is proud to support Buses for Democracy and provide free transportation to residents traveling to the polls on Election Day. As the regional transit provider, we have a responsibility to connect our communities not only to jobs, education, and essential services, but also to opportunities to make their voices heard. We encourage our community to Ride With Us to the Polls and exercise their right to vote.”
Passengers can ride for free on RTD Express, Local, and Hopper routes by telling the bus operator they are heading to the polls when they board. No additional documentation is required.
Commuter and Van Go! services are not included in the free ride offering.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voters can find a complete list of polling locations and an interactive map through the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters’ Current Election Information page at: https://www.sjgov.org/department/rov/election-information/current_election
