Foundation Hosts Benefit Golf Tournament

Golf tournaments offer an opportunity for sportsmanship and relaxation, however, not all offer additional fun for the family. The San Joaquin AIDS Foundation is hosting its first Charity Golf Tournament and Family Fun Day on Monday, Aug. 8. The event will take place at the Oakmoore Golf Course.

The festivities begin at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast and welcome; tee time is 9 a.m. As golfers take part in the tournament, children can keep busy playing in a jump house, creating arts and crafts or playing games. After everyone has worked up an appetite, lunch will be served, including a steak barbecue, salad and refreshments. In addition to great food, fun and golf, those attending will have the opportunity to gather information from various booths at the tournament. The afternoon will conclude with putting contests, longest drive, raffle prizes and the presentation of team awards.

The San Joaquin AIDS Foundation serves citizens in San Joaquin County and fundraising events such as the golf tournament are a way to raise much-needed funds. For more information, contact Sharene Gonzales, 476-8533.

Other upcoming events sponsored through the AIDS Foundation include the Walk for AIDS on Oct. 8, World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil on Dec. 1, Christmas Home Tour, Dec. 2 and Black nativity Gospel Play on Dec. 3.

The Foundation provides free and anonymous HIV testing, as well as HIV/AIDS education services.
