School vs. Community
Dear Editor,
When did this small, once tight knit community split, school vs community? While city leaders constantly work on water issues, I see more fields being watered and maintained for our youth sports while once filled school yards are empty. Just WHO are our school facilities for? Now twice the water to accomplish the same thing. Explain that to Joe Citizen please.
The city has also talked of a dog park. However, if you work for the school district you, not the community, has access to several fenced in large areas to let your dogs run, you just need a key to the gate at a school. I’ve seen it done...thank you taxpayers! I’m sure an entire campus poop check is made! Maybe that’s why our children can’t utilize them.
City leaders are faced with building affordable housing, yet the greedy school wants more taxes, driving costs up. Look at the back of this years tax statement, over 53% already goes to schools.
I recently learned that the city has given taxpayers money, in the form of grants, to new start up businesses. If you support new taxes, how can you accept grant money? If you can afford more taxes, you can afford your own startup.
The school district should be ashamed of using children as bait. If money is needed, first look inside. I KNOW the waste and abuse, I saw it first hand.
It’s been said putting a clown in a palace doesn’t make him a king, it makes the palace a circus.
We can do better.

If You Can AI It, You Can Do It Yourself
Dear Editor,
If you start to struggle on an assignment, work, or a single message, and you start to consider using AI to do it, why would you? If you don’t know what to do, then how are you going to ask AI questions to help you do it? The thing with AI is that you can ask it so many things and it’ll answer all of them, but all those questions can be used in many different ways. Asking your teacher the same exact question you would ask AI will get you to the same place, but AI won’t break it up for you as much as your teacher will. Your teacher, friend, stranger, anyone could help you understand something as much as AI, AI doesn’t care for you, but a real person would.
The things people do for one another can go a long way, AI will just bring you to point A to point B. AI is always used in school to help anyone out, including teachers, with any situation, but if you really needed something, you would go to someone for that help. You ask AI, AI answers, you ask someone for help, they help, you ask someone to stay, they’ll be there for you. With 8 billion people in this world, it takes one person no time to use AI to do an assignment for them, leading to consistently using AI as a shoulder to lean on when it comes to anything. Therefore, with what we conclude on this topic, if people can even consider using AI, consider how you’re also smart enough to type out questions you can answer yourself.

Improve Our Wi-Fi
Dear Editor,
Student’s learning is being affected by the school Wi-Fi. Over the past years, and the years to come technology has and will continue to be a huge part of student learning.
Technology is used daily by students and teachers. Either if it’s for class work, work plans, teachings and especially homework. However, our school Wi-Fi isn’t always reliable. While students are working on school computers or teachers are teaching on work computers, the screen glitches, freezes, is slow, or sometimes just stops working, due to the school Wi-Fi.
When a lesson is interrupted because of Wi-Fe problems, students lose important class time. It also causes students to fall behind because their class work or homework can’t always be completed on time. Sometimes not all of the students have a reliable source of internet at home and may rely on school time to get their work done. This is a problem that affects the students ability to learn and complete their work, this needs to be paid more attention to. The school should improve its Wi-Fi and provide a stronger internet that’s more reliable.
Technology is used very frequently throughout most of the school day, so it’s very important for teachers and especially students to have a stronger internet connection. Improving the school’s internet would make learning easier and help students complete their work without many interruptions.
Sincerely,
Diana Mondragon
