Floyd Allen Melton, 70, of Modesto, died Saturday, March 19 at his home in Modesto.

Born in Red Oak, Oklahoma, he was an inspector with Gallo Glass for 16 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957, then served in the Reserves until 1965. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, snow skiing and was a bowler with Gallo Glass Bowlers. He was a member of River Oak Grace Community Church and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who had a wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Helen Melton of Modesto; children, Kirk Melton of Sheep Ranch, Kennie Melton of Modesto and Deborah Melton-Stewart of Escalon; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mattie, and a brother, James Melton, in 1991.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 23 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon.

Graveside service will be Thursday, March 24 at 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery on East River Road, Escalon. Interment at Burwood Cemetery.
