city

A pair of seats will be up for appointment on the Escalon Planning Commission and the city is currently seeking applications for the posts.

The commission meets on the second Tuesday after the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m., in the council chambers on McHenry Avenue.

Mark Sarkozy and Shawn Strohman are the commissioners whose terms are set to expire June 1, 2020.

“Both Mark and Shawn have indicated that they would reapply for their positions,” said City Manager Tammy Alcantor.

However, other citizens interested are also welcome and encouraged to apply.

The terms of commissioners Barbara Willis, Kurt Danziger and Steve Castellanos expire in June, 2021.

Among the duties of the Planning Commission are to prepare and recommend comprehensive long-term general plans for the physical development of the city and any land outside its boundaries, along with investigating and recommending plans for improvements and beautification of the city to the Escalon City Council. Also, planners act as the advisory agency for the city regarding administering the state’s Subdivision and Map Act.

Those interested in applying are asked to download an application packet at www.cityofescalon.org or email dtrej@cityofescalon.org to request an application be emailed.

Completed applications may be emailed back to Trejo or placed in the payment drop slot by the front of City Hall by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 1.
