crime

Facing one felony count and two misdemeanors, Modesto resident and former Escalon High School assistant football coach Victor Carrillo, 26, is due back in court on Thursday, Sept. 26 for another hearing.

He was arraigned on Sept. 19 and Escalon Police Department Detective Anthony Hardgraves said he has been charged with a felony count of harmful matter sent to a minor with the intent to seduce, as well as misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18 and arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes.

Carrillo was arrested by Escalon Police on Monday, Sept. 16 following an investigation prompted by phone messages found by a parent of the teen victim. The parent brought the case to the attention of school administrators, who then contacted police.

He remains in custody at the San Joaquin County Jail with bail set at $120,000.

Hardgraves said the Sept. 26 court appearance may include the presentation of additional evidence in the case.
