Escalon City Hall will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 24 and 25 for the Christmas holiday and again on Friday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.

The next regular City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall on McHenry Avenue. The second meeting of the month, typically held the third Monday, will move to Tuesday, Jan. 19 due to the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 18.

City officials also remind local businesses that Thursday, Dec. 31 is the due date for renewal of business licenses. Call 209-691-7422 for more information; penalties can be avoided by renewing licenses by Jan. 30, 2021.

Also in January, the city’s Recreation Commission has a meeting scheduled on Wednesday, Jan. 6 and the Planning Commission is slated for a regular session on Tuesday, Jan. 12.

The holiday observances this month also will impact garbage collection. Gilton Solid Waste will be closed Fridays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Residents whose collection day falls on or follows one of those holidays will be done the following day. For more information, contact Gilton at 209-527-3781.
