Get your tickets now for the Relay For Life Tri-Tip Dinner for Four, scheduled at the Saron Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 4 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Team Nuts For Life is hosting this event, which features ‘curbside service’ with delivery of the full meal to your car; just present your ticket as you enter the church parking lot and the meal will be delivered. Cost is $40 and that includes a whole BBQ tri-tip, four baked potatoes, a bag of salad, loaf of French bread and a two-liter bottle of soda. On Saturday, Feb. 18 an Acoustic Guitar Workshop will be hosted from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Venue at Big Valley Grace Community Church, 4040 Tully Road, Modesto. Acoustic guitar players of all ages and skill levels will pick up some useful tips and secrets in this workshop. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. There is no cost to attend; register by Feb. 17 at bigvalleygrace.org/acousticworkshop.

Don’t forget to stop by and join in at the Escalon Library, 1540 Second St., each Tuesday evening for the new Adult Coloring Club. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. and the free Coloring Club is open to all adults; bring your own materials or use the ones they have at the library. Coloring is calming, and positive feelings are increased as you relax and focus all your energy on coloring. The program is provided through the Friends of the Escalon Library.

Joining the Arbor Day Foundation is an ideal way to get in the mood for spring planting. Anyone who joins the Foundation in February 2017 will receive 10 free Colorado blue spruce trees or 10 free redbud trees to plant when the weather turns warm. The free trees are part of the nonprofit Foundation’s Trees for America campaign. To become a member of the Foundation and receive the free trees, send a $10 contribution to Ten Free Colorado Blue Spruce Trees or Ten Free Eastern Redbud Trees, Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, NE 68410, by Feb. 28, 2017, or visit arborday.org/february.

Riverbank welcomes the REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Feb. 22. Coming up in late April, it’s the eighth annual Ride The Rails For Relay, on the Niles Canyon Railway, with three different departure times available. The train leaves from Sunol Depot, 6 Kilkare Road, Sunol at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., with live entertainment on the train with free wine tasting and snacks and beverages available for purchase. You can also bring a picnic to eat on the train or in the park. Trains are handicap and wheelchair accessible. Tickets are valid for the trip on Saturday, April 29. Cost for tickets is $25 for adults, children 2 to 12 $15 and under 2 ride for free. Trains run in all weather; train and crew donated by Niles Canyon Railway. Get your tickets early for the upcoming Film ‘Fun’ Raiser for DKG Epsilon Nu Chapter. The event is scheduled for April 27 at the State Theatre, 1307 J St., downtown Modesto. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. on film day for wine, appetizers and raffle drawings. The movie ‘Some Like It Hot’ will be shown starting at 7 p.m.
