I wonder how many of the Farmington residents will be watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 5? I know neither of the Bay Area teams made it, but maybe you are a fan of the New York Giants or the New England Patriots. The game will be on the television in our house, but I will not be watching much, because my football team will not be playing. I enjoy watching the commercials though. Some of the greatest commercials are during the Super Bowl. Then I have been disappointed, as some of the commercials they show are the same that have been shown during the regular season. I hope that they have some good ones this time. Another bit of trivia about the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl was started when the National Football League and the American Football League decided to compete against each other. The first Super Bowl game was played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, January 15, 1967. It was then named the AFL-NFL World Championship. The NFL team was the Green Bay Packers against the AFL Kansas City Chiefs. Green Bay won the game 35 to 10. The Packers went on to win three Super Bowls. While there are certainly teams that have had their fair share of success in the Super Bowl, the Pittsburgh Steelers have won the Super Bowl six times with the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys winning five times each. Therefore, if you are a Super Bowl fan, I hope you have a good time watching the game and have a good day with family and friends.
