Donations being sought for Sober Grad night

It’s not too far away; Escalon Sober Grad will be hosted Friday, May 30 for Escalon graduates and donations to help put on the end of the year party for graduating seniors are now being sought.

Coordinator Krysten Lial said all donations are appreciated.

“We are collecting donations to make our event a success,” she said. “We need both monetary contributions as well as $10 gift card donations to places seniors might like to visit.”

Those include In-N-Out, Dutch Bros, Yogurt Mill, Raising Cane’s, Chick-Fil-A and more, she said.

“Our goal is that every senior attending goes home with a gift card,” Lial said.

For those that want to donate money, make checks payable to “EHS Sober Grad” and send them to Escalon High, Attn: Sober Grad, 1528 Yosemite Ave., Escalon, CA 95320.

This year, the Sober Grad committee opted not to host the Tri-Tip drive-thru dinner fundraiser due to the increased cost of meat. It was felt the profit margin would not be enough and that main fundraiser was not held.

There is, however, an opportunity for residents to take part in a Pizza Night Sober Grad Fundraiser. The local D’Boni’s Pizza, Pizza Plus and Mountain Mike’s are all participating, said Lial. The businesses will donate a portion of their proceeds on Tuesday, May 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to Sober Grad, as long as those eating in or placing an order to go mention Sober Grad.

Lial said they are also seeking volunteers to help work at the Sober Grad Night, which runs Friday, May 30 from 9:30 p.m. to Saturday, May 31 at 3 a.m.

Seniors attending will purchase tickets online; cost is still being determined but information will be sent to all seniors and their families, said Lial.
