Escalon Branch Library will host a special program on Thursday, June 12 featuring Debbie Saarloos.
Get ready for an imaginative journey into the outdoors with Saarloos, Central Valley author of The Legend of Bigfoot from the Adventures at Raylane’s Ridge series. Saarloos will share her fun, heartwarming chapter book about Ranger Ellie, Bigfoot, and a team of animal friends who explore friendship, teamwork, and a touch of mystery in the great outdoors. After the reading, join in for camping-themed crafts and activities. The program is designed primarily for kids ages five to 12, but all are welcome to enjoy this afternoon of reading, creativity, and adventure.
Saarloos, as part of the author visit, will also share her story of growing up with dyslexia and not being able to read. As an adult she entered a literacy program and became an inspiration as she worked hard to overcome these challenges. She hopes to inspire others who struggle with reading and writing to never give up on themselves and to encourage people to speak freely about the challenges they face in life.
The program begins at 1 p.m. with Saarloos reading her book; the Escalon Library is at 1540 Second St., Escalon.
