Autumn Cruise Returns For Mid-September Show

More than a quarter of a century in, the Escalon Lions Club Autumn Cruise Car Show is still going strong.

This year will mark the 26th annual event, and the date for the classic car show is Saturday, Sept. 10.

This year’s show is being hosted in memory of Bud Andrew, a longtime Lions Club member and classic car enthusiast, who helped coordinate the many summer Friday night ‘pre-cruise’ gatherings through the years at Hula’s in Escalon. All proceeds raised through the car show go to the Escalon Lions High School Scholarship Fund. The organization has raised and presented several thousand dollars’ worth of scholarships through the years.

Pre-registration is going on now and the first 150 entrants will receive a free goodie bucket. There will be over 50 separate car show awards presented to entries and there will also be an $800 participants only drawing.

Throughout the day, there will be drawings for a variety of raffle prizes being donated, vendors will be on hand for the day and music will be provided by DJ “Ike” to serve as a backdrop for the family-friendly event.

The cruise is set up in downtown Escalon, in and around the city’s Main Street Park, and typically brings in several hundred classic cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Organizers said day of event registration will be available beginning at 8 a.m.; the ‘Show and Shine’ runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the judging takes place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Breakfast will be available prior to the show, starting at 7 a.m. and running through 10:30 a.m.; cost is $10 at the door and breakfast will be cooked and served by the local American Legion Riders, at the Legion Hall, 1531 Second St., Escalon.
