Seven Cougars Tapped For Classic Contest

Get ready for the 23rd Annual High School All-Star Baseball-Softball Classic.

This is the time of year when the top young men and women athletes from over 30 high schools across San Joaquin County and the Central Valley area will take the field at San Joaquin Delta College Sports Complexes in Stockton on Thursday, July 11 for the competition. First pitch honoree Ted Yoneda will throw out the first ball.

Game times are: Baseball 5:15 p.m., Softball 5:45 p.m.

Named to the all-star squads from Escalon were, for baseball, Robert Steves, Brent Montgomery, Nathan Chunn and Phillip Kimble, and for softball, Marissa Dominguez, Adalia Cajias and Illiana Cajias. The boys will play alongside teammates from schools including Brookside Christian, McNair, Merrill West, Millennium, Oakdale, Ripon Christian, Stagg, St. Mary’s, Summerville and Tokay. Teammates for the girls will include athletes from Argonaut, Bret Harte, East Union, Manteca, Merrill West, Millennium, Pacheco, Sierra, Tracy and Weston Ranch.

Advance tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through local high school baseball-softball programs. Admission at the gate will be $5, with children eight and under admitted free.

Proceeds from this year’s game will benefit Recreational Sports Club of San Joaquin, High School Sports Programs, and Stockton Community Council of United Way.
