Residents in and around the Escalon area shouldn’t be alarmed if they see some thick, heavy smoke on Saturday; the fire department has scheduled a training burn for that day.

At property in the 700 block of Yosemite Avenue, Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District officials said they will be conducting a structure fire training there on Saturday, June 13 between roughly 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Multiple fire units will be present on scene.

“Escalon Fire will still maintain its normal staffing levels and will remain operational ready during this training event,” the fire department noted in a statement issued regarding the planned burn.
