Playoff action this week saw the Escalon varsity football Cougars win their opening round contest while the varsity volleyball girls ended their NorCal run.

The Cougars defeated visiting Woodland on Friday night, 39-12, in a fog-shrouded contest. They will host TVL rival Ripon in a Sac-Joaquin Division 5 semifinal match at Engel Field on Friday, Nov. 19.

The volleyball team, fresh off its Section 4 title run, entered the NorCals in Division III – moved up a division as a result of back-to-back Section titles, and defeated Dublin in the first round on Nov. 9. Then, they before traveled to Concord on Nov. 11, falling to Carondelet, the top seed.
