D'Boni's Pizza will be part of a fundraiser for the Escalon Ministerial Association's holiday food voucher program, set for Aug. 18.

Coming up on Wednesday, Aug. 18, local residents can eat out and support a local charitable effort.

The local D’Boni’s Pizza on Jackson Avenue is sponsoring the Saron Lutheran Church fundraiser, being hosted in connection with the Escalon Ministerial Association. Saron officials said D’Boni’s has agreed to donate a portion of their proceeds from the day to EMA.

Escalon Ministerial Association, which is a main sponsor of the Escalon C.A.R.E., Community Action Resources of Escalon, food cupboard, also helps provide food vouchers for local families in need during the holidays.

This annual effort helps put festive holiday meals on the table during December, assisting those families that might not otherwise be able to have a traditional Christmas meal. Vouchers are given out for local supermarkets for the families to use for the holiday dinner.

Those choosing to eat at D’Boni’s Pizza on Aug. 18 will be part of the fundraiser; order any food item and 20 percent will go to support the annual food voucher program of the EMA.

Getting a head start on the effort this year, Saron and EMA representatives are hoping to see plenty of people eating out for the event, while also supporting their neighbors in need.

The Escalon Ministerial Association also provides support for C.A.R.E. throughout the year. The local food cupboard on Second Street provides emergency food for residents in Escalon, Farmington and Collegeville on a weekly basis. Also featured are once a month government commodities for eligible families along with the Senior Brown Bag program, also hosted once a month.
