Extra Security Enacted For Friday Football

Due to an incident that occurred on the Escalon High campus at the Thursday night, Oct. 10 freshman football game, there was heightened security on Friday.

Escalon Police reported an arrest in connection with the assault of an EHS student, the assault resulting in relatively minor injuries but also including threats that the Friday game with Riverbank was going to be “shot up.”

Authorities reported the arrest of a non-EHS student, Jesus Lopez, 18, in connection with the assault and threats.

Police brought in extra officers to patrol at the Friday night, Oct. 11 Trans-Valley League football game with Riverbank and also used the police department drone overhead as a way to look for potential problems.

The game went off with no issues.
