Local youth wrestlers form Nor Cal Take Down competed in the Cliff Keene Roller Productions Reno Worlds earlier this month.

This wrestling tournament is the largest and arguably one of the toughest youth wrestling tournaments in the country. The competition came from over 35 states and numbered nearly 3,000 wrestlers.

After three days of tough wrestling, Nor Cal Take Down had two kids standing on the podium. In the 6 and under division, 70 pound-plus class, Lillian Freitas finished second in front of last year's champion and this year's national champion. In the 8 and under division, 61 pound class, Carson Prim battled his way to the fourth spot on the podium by defeating three state champions.

"This is the toughest tournament kids can enter, these kids come from all over the country and they're all quality competition," said coach Lim Prim. "Our kids really showed heart and determination to battle so hard for so long, three day competitions are grueling for even the most seasoned athletes. We are proud of all our kids, win or lose."
