Youth Football Varsity Cougars Headed To Championship Game

The Escalon Youth Cougars varsity football team managed to claw its way to victory over the Hughson Huskies, ending the game with a final score of 32-14. The playoff match hosted at Calaveras High School showcased the remarkable talents of Escalon’s young athletes, with standout performances by Leo Marrufo, Dylan Ball, Jake Ferreira, and a stellar defensive effort by the entire team.

Also on full display was the team’s offensive prowess, with multiple players making significant contributions. Leo Marrufo emerged as the star of the show, finding the end zone twice during the game. Dylan Ball and Jake Ferreira also managed to score one touchdown each, further bolstering their team’s lead.

Not to be outdone, the defense also shone brightly for the Cougars. Marrufo, who was already a force on the offensive side of the ball, recorded an impressive 12 tackles. Carter Yates, Ball, DJ Bass, Carter Cummings, Ian Trejo, Trey Herrera, Kolten Kjellberg, Ferreira, Luke Gutierrez, Lucas Trejo, Vince Reis, Ryan Huebner, and Noah Gonsalves also stepped up with several tackles, collectively forming an unyielding defense that the Huskies struggled to breach.

Kudos to Huebner for flawlessly converting four extra points, adding vital points to the scoreboard and solidifying the team’s lead. The special teams’ performance was instrumental in Escalon’s victory.

The young Cougars managed to maintain their lead throughout the game. The excellent teamwork, discipline, and commitment paid off, securing a well-deserved victory.

This win punched their ticket to the big show as the Cougars will face off against the other undefeated team in the league, the Argonaut Mustangs. Summerville High School will play host to the Superbowl where these mighty titans will battle it out for the long sought after MVFL Superbowl trophy.
