Track Team Scrimmage

Escalon High School’s cross country team headed to nearby Oakdale for a practice meet in late February. “We didn’t score it, it was just a meet to teach the new kids and refresh our returners about the order of events, reporting to events on time, and a chance to shake off the rust and try out competing on a 'real track,” said head coach Carrie Nash. “We took two full buses of athletes and represented well. It was a beautiful day and the buzz for track and field was definitely ignited.” Next up for the Cougars will be TVL Relays March 18 at Hughson.

Softball Season Starts

The first softball games of the season saw action for the varsity and JV squads. Escalon’s varsity Lady Cougars opened up with a 14-2 win on the road at Orestimba on Monday, March 2. They rapped out 11 hits in the victory. Thursday, they earned a 12-3 win over Wooster out of Reno in an opening round game at the Rainbow Fields Tournament but that was the only score reported as of presstime. The JV girls had a pair of back-to-back losses to open their season, falling to Orestimba by an 11-0 final on March 2 and then losing by a 14-1 final to East Union at the Rainbow Fields tourney in their opener.
