Instructional Camp Planned For Baseball
Former pro ballplayers Rob Deer and Eric Bell will be back in the area to present the fifth annual Summer Baseball Camp at Rainbow Fields outside Riverbank. Camp dates are June 28 through June 30, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Cost is $190. Fees cover professional instruction, camp T-shirt and camp awards. Rob Deer was an outfielder and had 251 major league home runs, left-handed pitcher Eric Bell logged 125 professional wins and the two have a combined 35 years of experience in professional baseball. Community Pool Open For Business
The Escalon Community Pool is open for the season and regular hours are Monday through Saturday, now through Aug. 14, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The pool will be closed on Sundays.
Pool fees this year are $1 for youths, $2 for adults and $1 for seniors (60-plus). Swim passes are available, 15 passes for $12 for youth and seniors, 15 for $27 for adults. The pool will also be open for early morning lap swim, Tuesday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., cost is $1 per person.
Warriors Baseball Camps Set
Under the direction of CSU Stanislaus Head Coach Kenny Leonesio, Warriors Baseball Camps, offered in June, July, and August, give young players of all abilities an opportunity to improve their skills.
The All Skills Camp, offered June 29-July 2, July 20-23, and Aug. 3-6, is designed for ages 6-14 and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $100.
A Pitching Camp, offered July 12-14 is designed for ages 7-18, and runs from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $60.

Golden State Lumber Team Rolling
Cal Mex Baseball is running a full schedule, with the Golden State Lumber team suiting up for home games at Escalon High. Upcoming games include June 27, Astros at Escalon, 1:15 p.m. The Sunday, July 4 contest at 1:15 p.m. has Escalon playing at the Aztecs, with the Tigers at Escalon on July 11, Modesto Panteras at Escalon, July 18, 1:15 p.m. Escalon will be at the Giants, noon, July 25 and Escalon will close out the season at the Cardinals with a 3 p.m. game on Aug. 1. YMCA Schedules Hoop Nights
The YMCA of Stanislaus County will be holding open play nights for high school basketball. Open play will take place on Friday nights and will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. All open play will be held in the gym at the YMCA of Stanislaus County at 2700 McHenry Avenue.
Participants must be at least 14 years old. Pre-registration is not required. Participation is free for YMCA facility members and $2 per session for all other participants. For more information, contact James Lynch at 578-9622, ext. 30.
