Escalon’s varsity soccer boys advanced to the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V playoffs with an opening round win on Tuesday.

Hosting number six seed Delhi, the number three seed Cougars were 4-1 winners in the game on Feb. 20. That puts them on the road for a Thursday night contest, Feb. 22, facing off with number two Highlands in a 6:30 p.m. contest.

Highlands defeated number seven seed Riverbank, 1-0, in the opening round.

Winner of the second round contest advances to the Section final, scheduled for Thursday, March 1.

Meanwhile, the Escalon varsity Lady Cougars fell on the road Wednesday night, Feb. 21 in first round action. They traveled to the Sacramento area to face the number three seed West Campus team, which defeated the number six Lady Cougars, 5-0.
