Sharing adventures, hearing stories and making memories, the Escalon Library Summer Reading Program for 2026 had plenty of high points.

Library officials refer to the 122 new library cards issued and the total of 13,228 books read by participants as major accomplishments. Combined with visitors to the library and the steady attendance at special programs for the summer, it was definitely a situation where the library filled a need this summer for activities and engagement.

“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our Summer Reading Program and helped make it such a wonderful success,” said Escalon Librarian Kari Leos. “Your enthusiasm, support, and generosity helped make this summer extra special for our community.”

Leos had some specific thanks to offer as well. Among them: D’Boni’s Pizza for providing free pizza coupons for teens; Sonya Huff for teaching a patriotic painting class; Funworks Modesto for donating tickets; and Rachel Maricich for donating 3D printer filament, allowing the library to offer participants their first print free through July 31.

“We were also fortunate to welcome many wonderful guest readers to our story times, including representatives from the Escalon Police Department, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Escalon Fire Department, and Sierra College Natural History Museum,” Leos said.

She also highlighted the support of the Friends of the Library organization, which donated a variety of prizes for all ages involved in the Summer Reading Program, along with helping put on programs and special events throughout the year.

“Their continued support makes so many of our library programs possible,” Leos shared.
