Teams Eager To Get Fall Season Started

School is back in session and the Escalon High School Cougar fall sports teams are chomping at the bit to get back out on the playing field. Practices began Monday, Aug. 11 so teams are a little over a week into their workouts.

Upcoming, Cougar squads will see a taste of some action, starting out with the cross country teams participating in their annual Purple and Gold Scrimmage for placement purposes on Friday, Aug. 22 at 3:30 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 29 brings a trip to the Jaguar Invitational at Eagle Lake in Tracy, with a time to be announced.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, the football Cougars are scheduled to head to Jackson for a scrimmage against Argonaut, with that time for JV and varsity scrimmages to be announced. The Cougars will host Patterson on Aug. 29 to kick off the preseason, with the JV game at 5:30 p.m., varsity following.

Volleyball teams will also be in action on Saturday, Aug. 23 with Escalon hosting a round robin scrimmage for squads in the two gyms on campus. Friday, Aug. 29, the teams travel to Enochs for games at 4 p.m. (freshmen), 5 p.m. (JV) and varsity at 6 p.m.

Boys soccer will take on Waterford in a scrimmage at Escalon in a 4 p.m. game on Monday, Aug. 25 before playing host to Amador on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

For the Lady Cougar golfers, action begins with a Tuesday, Aug. 26 trip to Phoenix Lakes Golf Course to take on Sonora and Hilmar, then they suit up for a Thursday, Aug. 28 match with Hilmar at Stevinson Ranch.
