Sign Up For Babe Ruth

The deadline is fast approaching; the last day to sign up for the upcoming Escalon Babe Ruth season is Thursday, Jan. 14. Players must reside in or attend school within the Escalon Unified School District boundaries or Valley Home Joint School District boundaries. New participants must have an original (no photocopy) birth certificate at the time of registration. Co-ed T-Ball is for four- through six-year-olds, cost is $45; age is as of April 30, 2016. For Boys Baseball, age is as of April 30 and divisions and costs are: 6 to 8 years old, Rookie, $55; 9 and 10, Minors, $60; 11 and 12, Majors, $65; 13 to 15 Division, $65. Girls Softball divisions are based on age as of Dec. 31, 2015 and include: 6 to 8 years old, Rookie, cost is $55; 9 and 10, Minor, $60; 11 and 12, Major, $65; 13 to 15, 16U, cost is $65.

Join Panther Fun Run

Help out El Portal Middle School and enjoy some exercise at the same time. The El Portal Panther 5k and 1-mile Fun Run/Walk are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 7 starting at 8 a.m. The start and finish line will be at El Portal Middle School at 805 First St., Escalon. Cost is $25 for the 5k run for Early Bird registration, before Feb. 3; cost is $30 after Feb. 3. Cost for the 1 mile Fun Run is $25; cost for Escalon Unified School District students is $20.
