The final Sports Awards Night of the school year for Escalon High School included presentation of special honors and also a detailed listing of how successful Cougar teams were during the 2015-16 campaign.

Forty-eight students were recognized during the year as Trans-Valley League Scholar-Athletes while there were three league MVPs for the Cougars, two TVL titles, two Coach of the Year recognitions and five frosh-soph championships, along with a total of 378 athletes that maintained a 3.0 or above grade point average.

Specifically for the Spring Sports season, there were 221 athletes participating and 24 of them achieved a grade point average of 4.0 or above; 69 were 3.5 or greater and 128 maintained a 3.0 GPA or better.

Escalon High Athletic Director Mark Loureiro also noted that eight athletes received scholarships from the EHS Sports Boosters, with requirements playing two varsity sports and having a GPA of at least 3.5.

Five seniors were also saluted for playing three sports for all four years and those were Trenton Busch, Veronica Grajeda, Sarah Leal, Luga Mendoza, and Garrett Nebe. Seniors Logan Widmer and Taylor Laugero were recognized for their selection in the CIF-Dale Lacky scholarship program. Shown are the final awards photos from that evening.
