Over the weekend wrestlers from the Escalon Wrestling Club (EWC) participated in prestigious tournaments in nearby Loomis and down in Arizona.

EJ Lewis, seventh, and his fellow EWC grappler, Austin Roberts, seventh, who also competes for the El Portal Wrestling Program, headed by Dimos Birakos and his coaching staff, wrestled at the Northern CA Tournament of Champions (TOC) for grades 6-8 in Loomis at Del Oro High School. Brothers Xander and Niko Birakos traveled all the way to Arizona to the Prescott Valley Arena along with over 1,200 other youth wrestlers from 20-plus states to compete. Xander, wrestling in two brackets, went 5-4 for a third place medal in each. Niko also wrestled tough in a competitive field.
