Cougar Squads Gear Up For First Fall Contests

Saturday, Aug. 20 will see the first action of the season for Escalon High School football and volleyball squads.

Both sports are scheduled to play in scrimmages that day. For football, all three levels – freshman, JV and varsity teams – will head to Jackson to face off in a scrimmage with Argonaut (times to be announced). The JV and varsity will have their first pre-season game on Friday, Aug. 26. They are scheduled to take on Enochs at Downey High School in Modesto with the JV game at 5 p.m., varsity at 7:15 p.m.

The freshmen don’t have a game scheduled until Thursday, Sept. 1 when they will host Calaveras in a 6 p.m. contest.

Volleyball travels to Golden Valley High School for a scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 20 as well, with the teams then hosting Pitman in a scrimmage on Tuesday, Aug. 23 with freshmen and JV scheduled at 4:30 p.m., varsity at 5:30 p.m.

The EHS golf girls hit the course on Tuesday, Aug. 23 hosting Gustine in a scrimmage match at 3:30 p.m. They travel to River Oaks on Thursday, Aug. 25 for a scrimmage with Hughson.

First action for the cross country team will be at the Lodi Flame Invite at Lodi Lake on Friday, Aug. 26 at 3 p.m.
