A weeklong soccer skills camp hosted at Hogan Field brought together youngsters in a wide range of ages, all looking to improve their game.

Offered by Challenger Sports, the British Soccer Camp ran for three hours each day over the five-day span, June 13 through 17, and included instruction by a couple of different coaches.

Oscar Easton of Southampton, England, who was on hand for the final day on Friday, said he is traveling throughout Northern California, Northern Nevada and all of Oregon to put on the camps this summer.

Kids worked together on a number of dribbling, passing and shooting drills and also worked individually on ball control, speed and agility. Each day’s activities also included some scrimmages, to put into practice the new skills they had learned, spending time on both offense and defense.

Character development and some cultural education is included in the camps as well, with attendees learning more about the sport and focusing on skills development through unique, fun drills.

The three-hour camp was open to kids from 6 to 16-years-old. Along with the Escalon camp, the British soccer camps are planned in Modesto, Stockton, Turlock and more throughout the Central Valley region over the next several weeks.
