Headaches Squad Claims Top El Portal Bowling Honors

Memorial Splitting Headaches were league champions for the El Portal Bowling League this season, wrapping up the competition with their final Thursday meeting recently at McHenry Bowl. They were the second half season winners and took on first half winners, Bartelink Dairy, in the roll off for the championship honors.

In the scoring action prior to the final fun day Thursday, Memorial Splitting Headaches was on top at 43-25, followed by U3 Ranch, 42-26; Bartelink Dairy, 41-27; Farm Girls, 38-30; Dutch Girls, 37-31; Luis Dairy, 34-34; Car Wash, 31-37; Escalon Body & Frame, Grandmas, 30-38; Team 10, 0-68.

Weekly scoring leaders were Marjorie Moorman, 195 scratch game and 506 scratch series; and Cindy Dotinga, 262 handicap game, 702 handicap series.

For the league champion team, members are Chris Magana, Ali Hill and Tami Tomaino. The runner up, second place team Bartelink Dairy included members Janice Alcantor, Ali Van Ryn and Nellie Bartelink.

Season high honors were also presented at the league finale, with Ruth Sonke coming in with both the high average of 158 and high scratch series of 556. Carolyn Powell took home the trophy for high scratch game at 214 while Tami Tomaino won most improved (plus 9.05 pins) honors and handicap series, 707.

Ali Hill was the winner of the season's high handicap game honor, 264.

The 2011-2012 season will start on Sept. 8, 2011 at McHenry Bowl. There will be a meeting at 9:30 a.m. at the lanes and bowling starts at 10 a.m.

Bowler raise money for El Portal Science Camp and this year raised $1,700 through the league.
