Earning a split of their matches this past week, Escalon’s golf girls took a win on Tuesday but fell short on Thursday.

In the Aug. 24 match at the par 32 Escalon course hosting Amador, it was a 155-180 win. Pacing Escalon was Lucy Allbaugh, coming in at one under par, 31. She was followed by Gracie Bracco, 38; Sarah Bava, 41; Bella Ambro, 45; freshman Genevieve Cazassa, 48 and Kelsey Webster, 52.

Thursday, Aug. 26 saw the girls face off with perennial power Ripon, hosting the team at Escalon but falling by a 139-167 score.

Allbaugh was again the top finisher for Escalon with a 37, followed by Ambro, 38; Bava, 45; Bracco, 47; Cazassa, 49; Webster, 54.

Co-coach Kristie Cathcart noted that the Ripon scoring team members came in at 30, 32, 37 and 40.

“The girls are having fun and working on their games every day. Consistency is really our goal; as you can tell we shot 12 strokes worse on Thursday than on Tuesday,” said co-coach Martin Louro. “All four of our returners are capable of shooting good scores any given day but doing it consistently on the same day is what we are striving for. Our three newcomers Kelsey Webster, Genevieve Cazassa, and Jordan Lovett continue to improve every day, and have all shown a willingness and desire to improve.”

The girls were slated to play Aug. 30 in the Yellowjacket Tournament at Turlock Golf and Country Club, then are scheduled for Wednesday away at Summerville and Thursday away at Bret Harte.
