Oakdale Golf and Country Club was the site for the first Trans-Valley League Golf Tournament of the boys golf campaign, hosted by the Escalon Cougars. The action started the league season off on Thursday, March 17.

“Unlike previous years, the TVL approved each school to host an 18-hole tournament at their home course,” Escalon head coach Dale Clayton explained of the new system for this season. “All six high schools will participate and will be given points for team and individuals based on score.”

After the series of tournaments, the top two teams and six individuals will be qualified to participate in the Sectional Tournament in May.

In the Thursday tournament, Escalon golfers carded a team score of 478 which was good enough for second, while Ripon High was first with a low score of 434.

Kaden Schrotenboer and Bryce McKenzie paced the effort, as each had a score of 90, followed by Ben Millard, 96; TJ McNeil, 100; Jacob Dugo, 102; and Chris Vidales, 113.

The next TVL Tournament is scheduled for Thursday, March 24, at La Contenta Golf Course hosted by Riverbank High School.
