Keeping up with their busy season, Escalon Wrestling Club members wrestled at Central Catholic on Feb. 11.

Wrestling in the 5-6 division taking fourth place was Liam Ginger and Teagan Mittelstadt. Continuing to improve and taking third place was Johnny Van Dyk and Brody Krasko. Taking second in a loaded weight class was Freddy Velasco. Once again bringing home golds were Vincent “Tornado” Reis and John Kemp.

In the 7-8 division taking third, showing their toughness were Tyler Powell, Josefina Lopez, Rigden Mittelstadt, and Jackson Kidd. Taking a hard fought runner up honor was Christian Camera. Taking home impressive titles were Frankie Laney, Ace Krasko, Ramon Hinojosa and first year wrestler and spectacularly improved Dalton Shinn.

Once again looking tough, taking fourth place was newcomer Beau Morgan in the 9-10 year old division. Finishing a strong third was Ben Gonzales. Looking good finishing as runner up was Daulton Shinn in multiple weight classes. Bringing home impressive gold was Preston Berhorst in probably the best match of the tournament narrowly beating the tough Nicholas Saavedra in the finals.

In the 11-12 year old division, taking third in her first tournament was Isabell Marsalis. Taking runner up honors were Frankie Rodriguez, and Mia Otero. Taking home the gold was TOC qualifier JW Mills and four-time state placer Sammy Hinojosa.

In the 13-15 year old division, Luis Garcia took home a hard fought second place.

EWC will have its state qualifier lists in next week’s edition.

Sunday, March 11 features a SCWAY Nor-Cal folk style tournament at Escalon High School for K-12; any questions contact Derek Scott at 499-3941 or descott@sjcoe.net.
