The Ceres Sizzle 16-and-under travel softball team finished in first place while participating in the recent NSA Rev Honey Fastpitch Tournament, played at Rainbow Fields in nearby Riverbank. Among the players suiting up for the Ceres based team were Escalon High School players Samantha Shipley and Madysen Costa.

The Sizzle posted a 5-1 record during the weekend tournament. The Sizzle won all three of their games on Sunday to take down the top honors. Third-seeded Sizzle topped the No. 1 Renegades of Orcutt 4-1 for the title.

Sizzle also collected wins against the No. 2 Livermore Velocity (8-6) and No. 6 Rio Vista Lady Rams (13-3). Sizzle edged Oakhurst Thunder 5-4 on Saturday. The Sizzle suffered a 7-3 loss during their first meeting with Velocity on Saturday but got the better of the Livermore squad on their way to the championship.
