Suiting up for gridiron action on Saturday, Jan. 28, a trio of Escalon High School football players took part in the Bay Area Cali Classic that saw the Valley team take on the Bay Area team.

The Valley team scored a convincing 62-14 win at Burrell Field in San Leandro. Cougar players participating in the game were seniors, fullback Ryker Peters; wide receiver Owen Nash and offensive lineman Jacob Rauch. Senior running back Logan Anderson was also picked to play in the game but basketball obligations kept him from joining the Valley team.

In the decisive victory, Peters scored a rushing touchdown while Nash caught several passes and Rauch had a solid performance opening up holes on offense.

The Escalon Lions Club agreed to generously sponsor the game fees for the Escalon players and Bob McCune assisted the players with game preparation; highlighting the level of community support Escalon shows for its student athletes.
