Basketball players in Escalon are practicing twice per week, on Monday and Wednesday mornings, getting in some time on the court this summer.

Varsity boys head coach Nate Bartelink said the varsity boys played two games at Oakdale on June 7 and six games over two days this past weekend in the Modesto Christian/Ripon/Ripon Christian/Weston Ranch tournament.

“We are hosting freshman/JV summer league at El Portal on Monday and Wednesday evenings in June,” Bartelink added. “Five different teams playing; Escalon always plays at 6:20 p.m. and 8:40 p.m.”

Varsity summer league also plays on most Mondays and Wednesdays with the same game times, 6:20 p.m. and 8:40 p.m., at the high school.

Also on the schedule, the Escalon basketball program will be hosting two youth skills clinics on Wednesdays, July 6 and July 13. Incoming third through fifth graders (boys and girls) will attend from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and incoming sixth through eighth graders (boys and girls) play from noon to 2 p.m. at EHS.

“Fundamental skills and concepts will be taught and demonstrated by the EHS boys basketball coaching staff and some members of the program,” Bartelink said.
