Dear Editor,

Vote for Dr. Jeff Tilton for San Joaquin County Superintendent of Schools. He has 30 years of experience as a teacher, coach, principal, and county office administrator working with schools and districts across the nation, implementing common sense strategies to improve learning and cut wasteful spending. A graduate of Manteca High School, California State University, Stanislaus, and the University of the Pacific, Dr. Tilton understands the issues facing San Joaquin County schools. Safe schools are his top priority. He wants to work with police departments and the county sheriff to make sure that every campus has an officer or deputy present during the school day. Many of our students are not “job ready” when they graduate from high school. Punctuality, proper attire, keyboarding skills, computer literacy, how to read a ruler…Dr. Tilton wants to make sure every student has the basic skills necessary to get and keep a job. He realizes that not every student fits into every school. He supports parent choice, believing that parents should be able to place their child in the school that best fits the needs of that child. Dr. Tilton wants to cut the “top heavy” bureaucracy and use the money saved to help students and teachers in the classroom. He brings a wealth of educational leadership, from both the private and public sectors. Again, please vote for Dr. Jeff Tilton. He has dedicated his career to educational reform, cutting wasteful spending and making sure all our students receive a world class leading education.
