William Lloyd Balsbaugh, 34, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 after a lifetime filled with both challenges and laughter.

'Willy,' loved by all, was born with a degenerative disease called Kearns-Sayre Syndrome, which ultimately ended his life here.

Born October 17, 1974, he is survived by his parents Brian and Laurel Balsbaugh of Escalon; his older brother Benjamin, his younger brother Jakob and his wife Joy and nephew Drew, of Modesto; and his sister Katie of Escalon; grandmother Lois (Bauman) Flory and her husband Howard Flory of Modesto; and grandparents Vernon and Marilyn Balsbaugh of Dallas, OR.

A 1993 graduate of Beyer High School, Willy loved the Lord, his family, and his many dear friends. He was also a huge sports fan of the S.F. 49ers and the S.F. Giants. He loved going places, especially out to eat. His wit was second to none. In spite of his disability, Willy had a way about him that would brighten your day.

A Memorial Service celebrating his life was held on August 13 at Big Valley Grace Community Church in Modesto.

Arrangements were handled by Deegan Funeral Chapel in Ripon.

Donations may be made to Christian Berets Inc. 1317 Oakdale Road, Modesto, CA 95355 and/or Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way Modesto, CA 95356.
