Terry Marvin Hawley, 75, of Oakdale, CA, passed away of natural causes in Tulua Valle del Cuca, Columbia, South America on October 19, 2017. He was born in Modesto, CA to Marvin Lorenzo, and Jean (Jones) Hawley. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Hawley and Bonnie (Hawley) Kellogg; his grandchildren, Grant, Kevin, and Taylor Crawford; Lindsey, and Sean Kellogg; and his great grandsons Kanyon Crawford, and Cooper Kellogg. He also leaves his brothers, Ronald and Mark Hawley, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his long-time companion Mariela Mondragon.
Terry attended Rosedale Elementary School, a one-room schoolhouse in Eugene, CA. While attending Oakdale High School he worked on the family ranch outside of Farmington, CA, participated in football and wrestling. After graduation his career continued in the dairy industry. He was manager of a large dairy outside Galeton, CO, and later was owner of a dairy equipment business, first in Greeley, CO and then in Caldwell, ID. Upon returning to CA, he was a field representative for Bou-Matic Dairy Equipment. In the years prior to his retirement he was engaged in property sales in the Escalon and Oakdale area.
As a young man he loved to ride in competitive motorcycle events and acquired many trophies for all his effort. He enjoyed the out of doors, loved to go four wheeling on the back roads of ID, and traveled to many countries. Other passions included golf, hunting, and fishing in any body of water. In later years his home was always open for friends to stop by for advice or just a chat. He was known as a generous and friendly neighbor and was well loved by his daughters and grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Bolivar, Columbia, South America on October 20, 2017, and a Celebration of Terry’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the Gladys L. Lemmons Senior Community Center, 450 East A Street, Oakdale, CA 95361. Light refreshments will follow the service. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Terry’s honor can be made to your favorite charity.
